Tongariro Lodge – North Island
The world famous Tongariro Lodge sits on the banks of its namesake river just a few miles from it’s confluence with Lake Taupo. This positioning allows the guide staff at the lodge to take advantage of the prolific runs of rainbows up the Tongariro and also serves as a launching pad for backcountry trips via helicopter or truck. Many trophy trout over 10lbs are landed by guests each year, with an overall average of over 4 lbs, including brown trout in some watersheds. The Lodge is right on the door step of the World Heritage Tongariro National Park, which includes the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, the most popular one day walk in New Zealand. The Maori culture and outstanding volcanic features make this 7-8 hour hike a truly memorable experience.
Riverside executive chalets range from one to five bedrooms on the park like grounds. Each executive chalet has private facilities and its own secluded sunny terrace with views of the Tongariro River, Lake Taupo, or the mountains.
Tongariro Lodge has developed an international reputation for fine food and wine. The Lodge specializes in serving the best of New Zealand game and traditional foods.

Lake Brunner Lodge - South Island
Lake Brunner Lodge and its fishing are a hidden gem on the South Island of New Zealand. The lodge is located one hour's drive east of Greymouth in the middle of a podocarp rainforest. This is truly off the beaten path! The lodge's grounds lie on the west side of the lake and back up to a waterfall that serves as the lodge's power source. This sort of solitude combined with warm hospitality make this lodge one to visit before it gets discovered!Lake Brunner Lodge carefully grows and serves their own seasonal organic herbs. Their cuisine uses the best of fresh local produce including venison, lamb and locally caught West Coast seafood. Their meals will make you smile at the end of a great day of fishing.
Lake Brunner is "where the brown trout die of old age." There just aren't a lot of people fishing here yet. The local guides know these waters well and are a pleasure to spend the day with. Fish size averages 3lb, but plenty of browns to 10 lbs are caught every year. The lake and its tributaries provide ample fishing opportunities right in front of the lodge, but special trips to remote rivers are available by car. Don't forget your streamer box!
