Jason “JB” Balogh
JB hails from Memphis, TN, but his first fishing experiences were with his grandfather on the lake of Northern Minnesota catching Bass, Blue Gills, Crappie, and Pike. He studied Physics at Sewanee and Civil Engineering at Washington University and chose to follow his passion for fly fishing instead of sitting in an office. JB has lived in Jackson Hole for 13 years and been guiding the region’s rivers for the past nine. His fly fishing passion has taken him all over the world to chase different species including Bonefish, Permit, and Tarpon. Recently, JB ran the Fishing program at the famed Crescent H Ranch, and when it closed to commercial operations, he purchased their permits and started a guide service to complement his travel business. There is no place that JB would rather be than on the water!
Tim Smith
Tim spent his childhood in both Tennessee and Texas chasing fish wherever he could. After graduating from the University of Memphis, his love for fly fishing brought him to Jackson Hole where he has lived for the past nine years. He managed a local fly shop before his desire to spend as much time on the water as possible became too much to bear and he became a full-time guide four years ago. In his free time you'll find him researching local fishing holes or tying flies. Tim’s enthusiasm is contagious and his clients always come back for more!
Taylor Upton
Taylor grew up in North Georgia spending most of his time fishing for Large Mouth Bass, Perch, and delicious Catfish. In high school, his father took him fly fishing for Cutthroat trout on the Snake River in Jackson and he was hooked! Taylor quickly moved to Jackson Hole to live his dreams and has spent all his free time on the area’s waters ever since. Taylor worked in a local fly shop for four years before pursuing the guiding life. When he's not on the river fishing, he's on the river chasing ducks with his dog Paco.
Spencer Van Schaack
Spencer was raised in upstate New York where he grew up fishing local streams and lakes for Brook Trout and Small Mouth Bass. He attended Syracuse University where he majored in Geography and Native American Studies and also played lacrosse. Spencer honed his fly fishing skills chasing Steelhead and Browns while in school but the day after graduation he headed west. Spencer fell in love with Jackson many years ago while spending summers here and is now happy to be calling the valley home. When not fly fishing, he is probably planning the next trip or hunting ducks or antelope around the area. Spencer is eager to share what he knows about the river and can’t get enough time on the water!
